Nationwide. – On Friday May 1st, on International Workers’ Day, hundreds of TPS workers nationwide will join caravans in different states to uplift the stories of undocumented and TPS workers who are putting their own health at risk as essential workers on the frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic. From home healthcare, food processors, grocery stores, manufacturing and other essential jobs, more than 130,000 TPS beneficiaries are exposing themselves to the risk of infection.

Immigrant labor is accepted in this country even as immigrants’ humanity is denied by systematic exclusion. That is why this caravan will be asking, demanding:  “¿Y nosotros que? (What About Us?)” While those in power ignore their stories of hard work and struggle, we will uplift them! Immigrants are Essential!

The TPS community will be facing the tragic reality of deportation in less than a year, if Congress does not act. May Day is a day to honor workers, and today, it is clear that TPS workers – day laborers, janitors, and every aspect of food service industries – are all essential parts of our economy, of our communities.  We don’t just contribute, we subsidize US industries.  With our labor, with our poverty, with our health, with our lives.  While millions are safe at home, we are out, we keep it running.
