TPS Migrant Families call on Democrats to deliver on their campaign promises

“Resolve Your Moral Debt to our Families! Permanent Residency NOW!”

Nationwide- Committees of the National TPS Alliance are leading a series of actions across the country including an event which happened yesterday in front of the DNC headquarters in Washington DC, and another event happening today at Democratic Party Headquarters in Boston, to call on Democratic leadership to reaffirm their commitment to migrant families, after the latest parliamentarian decision, and fight for any alternative which would guarantee permanent protections for TPS Holders, Dreamers, Farmworkers and Essential workers.

After the latest news from the parliamentarian, Veronica Lagunas stated Democrats should bypass her decision:

“. . . while the parliamentarian may have a crucial impact on the reconciliation process, let’s not forget that she is not a judge and her ‘rulings’ are only suggestions. Senate leadership can overrule them! We need Democratic leaders to reaffirm their commitment to our migrant families. If they are truly committed to our struggle for permanent residency and political equality, the parliamentarian’s decisions can be ignored!” – Veronica Lagunas, TPS Holder, San Fernando Valley, CA, Spokesperson for the National TPS Alliance  (See Full Statement)

TPS families hope to target Democratic leadership from across the country, as they believe a moral debt is owed to migrant communities who not only helped campaign for them during the last election season, but have been key contributors to this country for almost 20 years:

“For decades, migrant communities have contributed in labor, taxes, and so much more. TPS holders alone contribute approximately $4.5 billion in taxes annually. We have made it loud & clear, that Our Lives Are Not Temporary, we deserve permanent residency & political equality! What we need now is the political will of Democratic leaders, to deliver on their campaign promises, and resolve this moral debt owed to our communities.– Julio Perez, TPS Holder, Boston, MA, Spokesperson for the National TPS Alliance
