BREAKING: Senate Parliamentarian rules out changing Federal Register date as Democrats’ Immigration Plan B

California- In response to the latest Parliamentarian decision which rules against Senate Democrats’ plan to change the date of the Federal Register as an alternative to the original immigration plan included in the budget reconciliation process, Veronica Lagunas made the following statement on behalf of the National TPS Alliance:

“We are disappointed to hear that once again, the Senate Parliamentarian has ruled against one of the only remaining windows we currently have to obtain green cards. However, while the parliamentarian may have a crucial impact on the reconciliation process, let’s not forget that she is not a judge and her ‘rulings’ are only suggestions. Senate leadership can overrule them! We need Democratic leaders to reaffirm their commitment to our migrant families. If they are truly committed to our struggle for permanent residency and political equality, the parliamentarian’s decisions can be ignored!” – Veronica Lagunas, TPS Holder, Spokesperson for the National TPS Alliance
